On-line Registration

The Miramichi Cross Country Ski Club is now prepared to take membership registrations on-line. This step has been taken for your convenience, administrative efficiency and at the request of the governing bodies, Cross Country NB and Cross Country Canada.  There is no additional cost to you and I think you will find it quite straight forward. The link to the on-line registration form is given below. There are explanations and instructions
at the top of the first page of the link so I won’t repeat them here.

Zone 4 and Cross Country Canada assures users their personal information is kept confidential.

As in other years there is an Early Bird reduced rate which is good until January 2nd, 2016, the day of our open house.

Once you complete the form you can pay your membership fee on-line with your credit card. However if you wish to register on-line and pay for your membership by cash or cheque at the club house, this too is an option.  You can register as in previous years on paper at the club house and complete the waiver at this time if you so choose. The club does however strongly encourage you to register on-line.

If you are a winner of a family membership from last year’s AGM I will be in touch with you about how you go about registering on-line.

Should you wish to give a club membership as a Christmas gift please let me know and I will arrange to have a gift certificate for you that would be redeemable at the club house for the membership. Day pass packages are also available as Christmas gifts as well.

There has been a small increase in membership rates this year. President Norm Brown has asked me to explain about the fees. We are pretty much a self-sustaining club. We do receive some grants from government and non-government agencies from time to time, and the executive is forever seeking out sources of funding. However the largest expenses the club faces are grooming, off season trail maintenance,  electricity and maintaining the aging club house. None of these are funded by third party sources. The largest expense is trail grooming  equipment and supplies, the manpower being provided by volunteers. For instance the club has purchased a new heavy duty snowmobile and this should make a big difference to trail maintenance, the number one function for the club. It is hoped that there might be some partial third party funding but so far it has not come through. The year-round repairs to the trails due to beaver activity, washouts and downed power lines are also a considerable expense. The club of course is keen to provide club members and the community at large with an excellent and convenient source of winter outdoor activity, but it costs money and much volunteer effort.
